Alleges negligence by ruling alliance
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has formed divisional-level panels to study the drought situation. MPCC alleged that the state government is neglecting the drought-affected regions in the state. Following the survey, a report will be submitted to the divisional commissioners by MPCC.
Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar is heading the Nagpur divisional committee. Dr Ntin Raut, Sunil Kedar, Ranjit Kamble, Subhash Dhote, Vikas Thakre, Sahasram Korote, Pratibha Dhanorkar, Abhijit Wanjari, Sudhakar Adbale, and Atul Kotecha will be the members of the Nagpur regional committee.
The Regional Unit In-charge Ramesh Chennithala and MPCC Chief Nana Patole have directed to form these committees to survey the drough-affected areas. Nana Patole is leading the Marathwada regional committee, while Balasaheb Thorat will be the chief of the North Maharashtra panel. Former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan will lead the panel in Western Maharashtra; the Konkan regional committee will be led by Nasim Khan, while Yashomati Thakur will look after the Amravati division.
Former ministers and legislators have been included in the panels. The reports will be submitted to MPCC, besides the divisional commissioners.
