The Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) administration has decided to install a GPS alert system in all registered tourist Gypsies. TATR Area Director Jitendra Ramgaonkar informed that it will be tested in some Gypsies in June, and the GPS alert system will be implemented in the Buffer Zone in July. Currently, no real-time alert system is available, prompting the installation of the GPS alert system.
A T-114 tigress was spotted in the core area of TATR surrounded by Gypsies, hindering her movement. A photo of the tigress went viral after the incident came to light. The TATR Administration promptly took action, penalizing 25 Gypsy drivers and guides involved. Subsequently, Gypsies are now prohibited from making ‘reverse’ and ‘U-turn’ maneuvers.
