Nagpur residents experienced a welcomed respite from the sweltering summer heat on Sunday as cloudy skies prevailed throughout the day. The maximum temperature dropped by 3.6°C within 24 hours, reaching a high of 41.8°C.
The forecast indicates that maximum temperatures will hover around 40°C in the coming days, as thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning are expected to sweep across Vidarbha, providing some relief from the heat.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorm activities are anticipated to continue across Vidarbha until June 6, with pre-monsoon activities anticipated to commence from June 7 onward.
On Sunday, maximum temperatures across Vidarbha dipped by 1-5°C, offering respite from the intense heat. Yavatmal recorded the highest temperature at 45°C, followed by Chandrapur at 43.4°C. Despite this decrease, minimum temperatures remained high, with many areas recording temperatures above 27°C. Bramhapuri, which had experienced maximum temperatures exceeding 47°C this summer, recorded a nighttime temperature of 33°C on Sunday.
Parts of Vidarbha, including Buldhana, Bhandara, Bramhapuri, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Yavatmal, reported relative humidity levels above 50%, with Washim recording the highest at 80%. Although the decrease in maximum temperature brought some relief, the humidity levels above 50% continued to cause discomfort during the daytime.
