Panic ensued at the Nagpur District and Sessions Court premises on Friday when a murder accused allegedly consumed poison. Police sources reported that Amjad Sheikh, accused of committing a murder on May 17 in Yashodhara Nagar, was arrested and brought to court on Friday.
While crossing the porch area of the court, Sheikh’s wife handed him a substance known as Jalhaad (poison), which he consumed. Sheikh then fell ill, vomited, and lost consciousness. He was swiftly rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
