Violation may invite hefty fine
Nagpur Municipal Corporation has started registration of pet dogs, which is mandatory within its jurisdiction. The registration must be done within three months and can be done at all ten zonal offices of NMC.
The notification relating to the registration of pet dogs and other rules can be seen on www.nmcnagpur.gov.in/circularfordogregistration.
A fee of Rs 500 per year will be charged. The residents who wish to have more than three dogs will have to seek special permission after submitting the required documents as mentioned in the Annexure. The dogs should be vaccinated for rabies, a certificate of which should be submitted.
To promote the rearing of Indian breed dogs the registration fees will be Rs 200 only.
The fees will be waived if the dog is sterilized in the case of an Indian breed and reduced to Rs 200 per year for other breeds.
Heavy fines will be imposed in case of violation of the rules or submitting fake certificates or those who fail to register the pet dogs in their possession.
The certificate will be in force from April 1 to March 31. In case of failure to renew the certificate, a fine of Rs 5 per day will be imposed.
Those rearing dogs will have to take them out with Muzzle and Poop Stick.
