The kamptee Police arrested three people including a journalist who demanded a ransom of five lakh rupees from a builder in Nagpur. Cars, motorcycles and mobile phones have been seized from them. This operation was carried out at Marartoli area on Kamptee-Kalamna road.
The arrested accused has been identified as Veerkumar Dinsingh, Sheikh Habib Sheikh Rahmatullah and Syed Rizwan Haider.
Sachin Gopal Gupta, owns a firm called Kesar Land Builders. Veerkumar along with other two are representatives of YouTube channel New Awaaz News.
Alleging that Sachin Gupta had laid out a plot and sold it on Pandan road in Kanhan city, the trio had demanded Rs 10 lakh from him. Therefore, on May 17, Sachin filed a complaint against the three to Kamptee (New) Police Station. As the demand for money increased, the police had laid a trap for three days. All three came to Marartoli area on Thursday afternoon. As soon as they accepted five lakh rupees from Sachin Gupta, the police detained all three and arrested them. Kamptee Police has registered a case under IPC 384, 386, 506, 504, 34 and started investigation in this matter.
