An effigy of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was burnt at Variety Chowk on Wednesday, demanding the cancellation of prepaid meters. The replacement of old electricity meters with prepaid ones is being done in an authoritarian manner, without consulting any section of society.
Janakrosh Abhiyan is being implemented by Citizen Action Committee Against Pre-Paid Electric Meter in Nagpur. As part of this campaign, a protest against pre-paid meters was held at Variety Chowk. A large number of members of the committee participated in the agitation, chanting loud slogans against the state government. After the agitators burnt effigies, the police detained the agitators.
