Nayan Sarde brought laurels to the city by winning the men’s U-20 110m hurdles race at the Indian Grand Prix 3, held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. During the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) organized meet, Nayan became the first runner from Nagpur to establish his dominance at the Indian GP. He completed the 110m hurdles race in 14.11 seconds, securing the top position.
Maharashtra’s Sandeep Gond followed closely, earning the silver with a time of 14.23 seconds. On his way to winning the gold medal, Nayan also surpassed the qualifying mark of 14.20 seconds, securing his spot in the World Junior Athletics Championship. According to a release by Sharad Suryawanshi, secretary of the Nagpur District Athletics Association, the AFI will officially confirm Nayan’s qualification for the World meet scheduled in Lima, Peru, later this year.
