As the upcoming academic session approaches, the government plans to distribute shoes and socks along with uniforms to children attending government schools.
This initiative, supported by the state government’s Samagra Siksha Abhiyan budget, has allocated ₹1.58 crore to provide shoes and socks at ₹170 per student for 92,970 students in Nagpur district. The procurement of shoes will be managed at the school level.
A total of 44,60,000 students studying in state gov- ernment schools, Zilla Parishad schools, municipal council schools and municipal corporation schools will benefit from this scheme. Each student will receive one pair of shoes and two pairs of socks. Schools in Vidarbha will start on July 1 and the shoes and socks will be distributed to the children on the first day it- self.
