For safety reasons, almost all jungle safaris in Vidarbha will be closed during the rainy season. This year, safaris will be available only until June 30. From July 1 to the end of September, jungle safaris will be shut down. Tourists will not be able to enjoy jungle safaris for three months.
Major tiger reserves affected include Pench Tiger Reserve, Umred Karhandla, Bor Tiger Reserve, Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve, and Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve.
The decision is due to the condition of the roads used for jungle tours. These roads are unpaved and made of soil. During the rains, they become very muddy. As a result, jeeps and other vehicles get stuck, making it troublesome and unsafe for tourists. Considering these factors, jungle tours are closed during the monsoon season.
Additionally, the rainy season is a time for development work in the forests. This includes planting saplings in vacant areas and cutting excessively tall grass. The monsoon season is also crucial for the growth of wildlife populations.
