The Bombay High Court on Tuesday, June 25 granted bail to the minor accused in the Pune Porsche crash case. The court ordered that the juvenile be placed in the custody of his relatives, with specific conditions attached to the bail.
The High Court ruled that the teen accused will be released from the observation home and placed in the custody of his aunt, who had filed a writ petition in the court.
The accused teen, currently lodged in an observation home, will be released as the court has declared the impugned remand orders illegal and set them aside.
On May 19, two techies were killed in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, after a Porsche car driven by a 17-year-old allegedly hit them. The teen accused was initially granted bail on the day of his arrest by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), which ordered him to be kept under the care of his parents and grandfather, and write a 300-word essay on road safety. However, after significant public outrage, his bail was canceled and he was sent to an observation home. On Friday, June 21, the Pune district court also granted bail to Vishal Agarwal, the father of the accused teenager. Agarwal was booked under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. His advocate, Prashant Patil, stated that Agarwal will continue to cooperate with the investigation.
