In a concerning turn of events, the ongoing problems faced by the commuters in Bajaj Nagar area due to the closure of a divider have surfaced. The affected stretch, from VNIT College gate at Abhyankar Nagar Square to PVK Wines at Bajaj Nagar square, is causing inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists alike from almost a month. It has been observed that no notification was issued regarding the closure of the divider. The closure of the divider from the middle is initiated by local road contractors and few nearby shopkeepers of the area without proper authorization, which has led to significant commuter distress.
According to local residents, the closure was implemented to prevent accidents due to the frequent mishaps in the area. However, there is currently no way to cross the road.
The barricaded divider, sealed with tin sheets, presents a grave danger to commuters and pedestrians, especially the elderly, children, and women, who have to climb over the divider to cross the road. With vehicles continuously moving on both sides of the divider, the risk of accidents is high.
The closure also affects emergency services, especially ambulances heading to CIIMS Hospital which is the nearest to the divider have to take complete U-turns facing delays.
Furthermore, the closure has disrupted traffic flow. Some vehicles are now driving on the wrong side of the road, making safety concerns even worse.
Despite the obvious problems and public complaints, the authorities, including the traffic police, are numb and not taken action to tackle the worsening situation. Their lack of intervention has added to the troubles faced by commuters, sparking concerns about public safety.
