The manager and an employee of a Toyota showroom, along with two accomplices, deceived a customer under the pretext of securing a vehicle loan. They convinced the customer to deposit the down payment but failed to arrange the loan. Acting on a complaint filed by Sandeep Mahadev Meshram (40), a resident of Gittikhadan, the police have registered a case against Vivek Telkhade (35), manager of the Toyota showroom on Wadi Road, Mayur Gharde (27), an employee, Syed Mustafa Allahbaksh (50) from Aradhana Nagar, and Mayank Keshav Wankhede (45) from Indore.
According to police, Sandeep had visited the Toyota showroom on Wadi Road on April 3 to purchase a vehicle. Telkhade and Mayur showed him the car and initiated the process for a vehicle loan after collecting documents such as PAN card, Aadhar card and bank statement from Sandeep. They assured him that the loan would be approved through Punewala Pingcock Company. Later, Mayank, posing as an employee of Punewala Pingcock, informed Sandeep that a loan of Rs 8.21 lakh had been sanctioned.
He instructed Sandeep to deposit Rs 2.34 lakh as a down payment into Syed Mustafa’s account. Sandeep complied, but nei- ther received the car nor the loan. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Mustafa had transferred the deposited amount to Mayank’s account. Sandeep reported the incident to the police, who have registered a case under Sections 406, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
