More than a month after a tiger was found severely injured in the Pench reserve, it was released back into the wild on Tuesday.
The tiger, officially named T-53, was discovered injured in compartment number 509 of Khursapar beat in the Deolapar range of the tiger reserve on May 17, according to a release issued by the Deputy Director of Pench Tiger Reserve (PTR).
After its discovery, the tiger was captured using chemical immobilisation and transferred to the Gorewada Rescue Centre in Nagpur for further treatment and recovery by the forest department team.
T-53 recovered well after receiving treatment and was deemed fit for release into its natural habitat, as reported by the veterinarians. The feline was released near the capture site, the release stated.
