The opposition to the underground parking proposal of the state government at the historical Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur continues with a large number of followers of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar staged demonstrations on Monday. They also vandalized the construction material at Deekshabhoomi.
The Maharashtra Government allocated Rs 200 crores for the development of Deekshabhoomi. The development projects include underground parking. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the Legislative Assembly. The developmental plan has been prepared and will be implemented as suggested by Dr Ambedkar Memorial Committee. Accordingly, the work on underground parking was started. It was stopped by the committee given opposition by the devotees, who visit the place every year in large numbers.
Many followers of Dr Ambedkar, who had opposed the proposal of underground marking gathered at Deekshabhoomi on Monday and staged demonstrations on Monday.
