The government reduced the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 30 on Monday. As a result, the cost of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder is now Rs 1,646, effective July 1, 2024.
On June 1, 2024, oil marketing companies lowered the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 69 per cylinder. This reduction marked the fourth consecutive monthly decrease. Earlier, on May 1, officials had reduced the price by Rs 19 per cylinder, followed by a reduction of Rs 30.5 per cylinder on April 1, 2024.
Following the latest update, the price of a 19 kg LPG cylinder in Kolkata is now Rs 1,757. In Mumbai, the cost of the same cylinder is Rs 1,599 per piece, while in Chennai, it stands at Rs 1,810.50.
Every month on the first day, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) announce revisions in the prices of jet fuel and cooking gas. These adjustments are determined based on the average prices of benchmark global fuel and prevailing foreign exchange rates.
Simultaneously, the government has announced no changes in the price of domestic LPG cylinders used for cooking purposes. The prices remain unchanged at Rs 803 per cylinder in New Delhi, Rs 829 in Kolkata, Rs 818.50 in Chennai, and Rs 802.50 in Mumbai.
