Bharatiya Janata Party has offered another opportunity to Pankaja Munde by naming her the party’s candidate along with four others for the biennial elections for the Maharashtra Legislative Council. The polling for the 11 seats of the Legislative Council will be held on July 12. Nagpur’s Dr Parinay Phukle also gets the opportunity for contest the polls seeking a second term.
BJP announced the names of five candidates on Monday. They are Pankaja Munde, Yogesh Tilekar, Dr Parinay Phuke, Amit Gorkhe and Sadabhau Khot.
Nomination forms for the elections will be accepted from July 2. Polling will be held between 9 am and 4 pm on July 12 and counting of votes will start at 5 pm on the same day.
The term of 11 members expires on July 27. Those completing the term are Dr Manisha Kayande, Vijay Girkar, Abdullah Khan A Laif Khan Durrani, Nilay Naik, Adv Anil Parab, Ramesh Patil, Ramrao Patil, Dr Wajahat Mirza, Dr Pradnya Satav, Mahadev Jankar, Jayant Patil.
