Today on July 1, students in Nagpur district and the Vidarbha region returned to school, starting their new academic year. With fresh uniforms and new bags, they happily reunited with friends. The busy scenes at school gates showed the excitement of a new beginning.
The reopening was directed by Ulhas Narad, Deputy Director of Education, who instructed all Education Officers to begin the new academic session on July 1. Originally, the summer break, starting on May 1, was supposed to end on June 15. However, due to the intense summer heat typical of Vidarbha, authorities decided to delay reopening until June 30.
Since June 30 fell on a Sunday, the schools ultimately reopened today. This decision was made to ensure the comfort and safety of students, allowing them to return to school in better conditions.
On the first day of school, heavy traffic congestion was observed near Nagpur schools, especially from Mangalwari Sadar area to Kingsway Road. The residents’ lane in Gaddigodam and Mohan nagar also experienced significant traffic, with a mix of school buses, vans, autos, cars, and two-wheelers causing delays even though the start time was set for 9 a.m. Parents and commuters faced challenges navigating the crowded streets as they dropped off children for the new academic year. However, the traffic police have been deputed to manage the traffic flow.
