The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has refused to stay the sentence of senior Congress leader, former minister Sunil Kedar. Kedar was sentenced to five years imprisonment and a fine of twelve and a half lakhs in the Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank government bond purchase scam. The court had convicted Kedar under various offences.
Sunil Kedar was disqualified as an MLA under the Representation of the People Act after his conviction. Kedar had filed a petition in the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court seeking stay of this sentence.
