The Ministry of Railways has announced special trains from Vidarbha to Pandharpur for Ashadi Ekadashi. This decision allows devotees to travel from Vidarbha to Pandharpur for the festival using these trains.
The Ministry made this decision after the request of Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari.
Devotees from every corner of Vidarbha visit Pandharpur on the occasion of Ashadi Ekadashi. People suffer to trav- el Pandharpur from Vidarbha due to shortage of regular trains on this route.
On the occasion of Ashadi Ekadashi on July 17, lakhs of devotees will visit Pandharpur from Nagpur, Akola, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Chandrapur, Amravati and Buldhana. The devotees start visiting Pandharpur from July 12 onwards, but there is very limited trains on this route, therefore devotees suffer to do the pilgrimage.
Keeping the increasing number of passengers in mind, the Ministry of Railways decided to run special trains from Vidarbha on July 13 onwards. The first train to Pandharpur will leave on July 14 from Nagpur whereas another train from Nagpur will release on July 15. Two trains will start from Amravati on July 13 and July 16 respectively. Whereas, trains will run between Khamgaon to Pandharpur on July 14 and 17. All these three trains will stop many places of Vidarbha between July 14 to 17. Similarly, the return trains will run between Miraj to Nagpur during July 18 and 19.
