The Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) Totladoh has made significant strides in combating illegal fishing activities threatening the ecological integrity of Totaladoh Dam in PTR. In a series of operations conducted on 6th and 7th July 2024, STPF Totladoh seized two boats along with a total of 165 fishing nets.
On 6th July 2024, during an intensive search operation in the Magar Nala and Jamun Nala areas within Totaladoh Dam, STPF Totladoh confiscated one boat, approximately 120 fishing nets, two tubes, and one cycle. The following day, on 7th July 2024, another operation in the Magar Nala area resulted in the seizure of an additional boat, a tube, and about 45 fishing nets.
Totaladoh Dam, part of the Meghdoot reservoir and situated within the critical tiger habitat of Pench Tiger Reserve, plays a crucial role in maintaining the biodiversity of the region. The operations by STPF Totladoh underscore their commitment to enforcing wildlife protection laws and preserving natural resources. The force maintains rigorous day and night patrols to deter and apprehend perpetrators engaging in illegal fishing activities.
