In a recent development, the School Education Department has issued a notification mandating that all schools up to class 4 in the state will commence classes at 9 am starting from the current academic year. The decision comes in response to concerns raised over early school hours impacting the health and well-being of young students.
According to the notification, any school found operating classes for students up to class 4 before the stipulated time of 9 am will face disciplinary action from the education department. This measure aims to ensure that young children receive adequate sleep and maintain optimal health.
In light of the new regulation, schools seeking to start sessions before 9 am must obtain prior permission from the Primary Education Officer of the Zilla Parishad. Schools are required to provide valid reasons justifying the need for early commencement.
Education Officer Siddheshwar Kaluse confirmed that approximately 30 schools in the city have already applied for permission to commence classes before 9 am. The education department will carefully evaluate these requests before granting approval.
This initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to prioritizing the well-being and academic performance of young students across educational institutions.
