The Maharashtra Government has withdrawn a fine of Rs 50 per day on failure on renewal of fitness certificates for vehicles. Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar has appealed to all the vehicle owners to obtain or renew the fitness certificate from the regional transport offices.
The fine was being imposed for failure top renew the fitness certificate after 15 years. The auto-rickshaw and taxi owners had opposed the fine. A meeting of their unions was held with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde following which the decision withdraw the decision to impose fine was withdrawn temporarily.
