Midas Hospital announces the outstanding achievement of Dr. Saurabh Mukewar, Senior Gastroenterologist, who secured first place at the prestigious World Cup of Endoscopy. This prestigious event, organized by the World Endoscopy Organization, took place at the recent World Endoscopy Congress in Seoul, South Korea.
Over 100 participants from around the globe competed in the event, with only the top six being selected for the final presentation. Dr.Mukewar’s outstanding presentation secured him the top honour, making him a shining representative of India on the global stage.
Dr.Mukewar’s award-winning presentation centred ona complex case of “afferent loop syndrome” arising from a significant surgical procedure known as pylorus-preserving Whipple’s surgery. This operation involved removing parts of the bile duct, duodenum, and pancreas, and reconnecting them to the remaining bowel. The elderly patient developed bile duct obstruction, jaundice, and sepsis due to the resulting blockage in the bowel loop.
Demonstrating his exceptional skill and dedication, Dr.Mukewar successfully performed an Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)-guided Duodenojejunostomy. This procedure involved joining the obstructed bowel loop to the healthy section of the small intestine, effectively relieving the obstruction and completely resolving the patient’s symptoms.
“This achievement by Dr. Saurabh Mukewar is a clear demonstration of his exceptional expertise and dedication to advancing patient care,” remarked Dr. Shrikant Mukewar, Director and Senior Gastroenterologist at Midas Hospital. “His success not only brings immense pride to our institution but also underscores the high standards of healthcare excellence we strive for at Midas Hospital. It is a proud moment for the Midas Endoscopy Team and brings immense pride to Midas Hospital.”
