In a significant move towards industrial development in the Vidarbha region, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, and Guardian Minister of Gadchiroli, Devendra Fadnavis, will perform the Bhoomi Pujan for the Surjagad Ispat Pvt Ltd steel project in Gadchiroli on July 17th. This ambitious initiative, valued at Rs.10,000 crore, is expected to generate employment for over 7,000 individuals, both directly and indirectly.
Sunil Joshi, Chairman of Surjagad Ispat Pvt Ltd, stated, “We are contributing to our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by making significant investments and promoting industrial development in Maharashtra. We are establishing an integrated steel plant of 2600 TPD in the Naxalite-affected region of Wadlapeth village, Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, covering an area of 350 acres. Our project includes a 1.6 MTPA Beneficiation Plant, a 1.2 MTPA Pellet Plant, a Sponge Iron Plant of 4 x 650 TPD, an Induction Furnace of 0.75 MTPA, a Rolling Mill of 0.75 MTPA, a Captive Power Plant with a capacity of 120 MW, and a Pellet Plant of 1.2 MTPA.”
The Surjagad Ispat Pvt Ltd project represents a landmark investment aimed at bolstering economic growth and providing substantial employment opportunities in the region.
The Bhoomi Pujan for the steel plant will be held on July 17, 2024. The event will be graced by prominent dignitaries, including Ajit Dada Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance and Planning Minister; Uday Samant, Cabinet Minister for Industries; and Dr. Dharmaraobaba Atram, Cabinet Minister for Food and Drugs Administration. Numerous government officials are also expected to attend this momentous occasion. The first phase is slated to commence in 2026, with the entire project expected to be completed by 2030. The future plan is to extend capacity to 2 million tons per annum of integrated steel plant.
The conceptualization of the Surjagad Ispat Pvt Ltd project began two years ago, with land acquisition taking 8 to 10 months. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with the government in Davos, Switzerland, marking a significant milestone in the project’s journey.
