Intense rainfall since the early hours of Saturday, July 20, has brought Nagpur, Maharashtra’s Second Capital, to a standstill. The torrential downpour caused severe waterlogging across multiple areas, significantly disrupting daily activities.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials were dispatched to various locations to manage the situation. Manish Nagar Underpass and Shankar Nagar Square were particularly affected, with flooding causing major traffic halts. Several other areas in the city also faced similar issues, making commuting extremely difficult for residents.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded over 80 mm of rainfall in Nagpur between 5:30 am and 8:30 am and predicted that the heavy rain would likely continue until 11:30 am.
The impact of the heavy rain extended beyond the city. Several villages in the Nagpur district have been isolated from neighboring villages and cities due to overflowing rivers. This has caused significant inconvenience to residents, disrupting transportation and access to essential services.
