Nagpur received 217.4 mm rain during the six hours on Saturday morning. Water-logging, blocked roads, closed underpasses, vehicle failures, severed power supply, and tree falls were experienced by this Smart City.
Rains from 8.30 am on Friday to 8.30 am on Saturday were recorded at 91.3 mm. On Saturday 81.8 mm rainfall was recorded between 5.30 am and 8.30 am, and 135.6 mm between 8.30 am and 11.30 am. Thus, between 5.30 am and 11.30 mm Nagpur received a record 217.4 mm rains.
On uly 27 last year the city received 164 mm of rain in 24 hours. This record was broken on Saturday. Cement roads in various parts of the city made the homes and shops on these cement roads suffered. Ongoing road construction work in many parts made life horrible and dangerous.
SDRF teams rescued 12 people in Khedi village in Kamptee taluka. Five labourers stranded in a farm in Wagdhara in Hingna taluka were rescued. Fifty students of a college in Sai Nagar on Hudkeshwar Road also required the help of the fire brigade teams to come out of their college.
