The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Pune has filed a chargesheet against former Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) 1999. Deshmukh has been charged with threatening an IPS officer. Deshmukh is accused of threatening an IPS officer Pravin Munde posted at Jalgaon for filing a fake complaint against BJP leader Girish Mahajan.
Pravind Munde was Superintendent of Police at Jalgaon when he was threatened to lodge a case against Girish Mahajan. Deshmukh made three phone calls to Munde, the chargesheet says. Anil Deshmukh said that a Government pleader is being sent for the purpose. SP Munde was threatened as he said that the said offence is not under the jurisdiction of Jalgaon police and should be registered at Pune.
Girish Mahajan was a director of an educational society, which was under dispute. A complaint was lodged in this connection with Jalgaon police. The case was handed over to CBI for investigation after Devendra Fadnavis, who was Leader of Opposition raised the issue and demanded enquiry into the case. CBI is investigating the case.
