The District and Sessions Court, on Thursday, dismissed the revision applications filed by Tehsil police, which sought to overturn the JMFC’s refusal to permit the arrest of Ritika Malu, the accused in the Ram Jhula accident.
The Tehsil Police had submitted two revision petitions to the Sessions Court, seeking the re-arrest of Ritu alias Ritika Malu, following consultations with legal experts. Notices were issued to the respondents, and a hearing was scheduled for July 18. This move came after the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) had twice rejected the Tehsil Police’s application earlier this month.
The incident in question occurred on February 25, when Malu allegedly drove her Mercedes recklessly under the influence of alcohol, resulting in a collision with an Activa scooter carrying two individuals. Both riders, Mohd Hussain Gulam Mustafa and Mohd Ateef Mohd Zia, suffered fatal injuries—one died on the spot, while the other succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
