Nagpur: Continuing its commitment towards fighting the Drug menace, the Nagpur Customs disposed off 1340.7 kgs of narcotic substances through incineration, totally valued at Rs 19.7 Crores at MEPL, Butibori, Nagpur.
The narcotics substances destroyed today consisted of 1.7 kgs of Cocaine seized by the Air Intelligence Unit, Customs Nagpur and 1339 kgs of Ganja seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Nagpur Regional Unit, Nagpur in two NDPS Cases.
The destruction of said NDPS was done under the guidance of Shri Sanjay Kumar, Commissioner of Customs and in the presence of chairman of Drug Disposal Committee, Customs Nagpur Shri Peeyoush Bhati, Additional Commissioner of Customs along with its other members Shri Nikhil Vadnam, Deputy Director of DRI Nagpur, Shri Anjum Tadvi, Assistant Commissioner of Customs.
The NDPS substances were incinerated as per the procedure prescribed in the NDPS Act, 1985 and Disposal Manual, 2019 by the Nagpur Customs Commissionerate. The same was in compliance with Pollution Control Laws for Green environment. This exercise was done in line with the Union government’s Zero Tolerance Policy against Narcotics and to deliver a strong message to the smugglers who engage in the smuggling of NDPS Substance.
