Dr. Amol Kadu, Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon,Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur said that,’’Partial knee replacement surgery is an advanced total solution for knee osteoarthritis. It preserves almost 80% of natural knee structures and gives complete pain relief with good functional outcome. ’’Partial knee replacement or uni knee preserves all 4 crucial ligaments of knee and gives a better kinematic functional knee post surgery. Uni knee is less invasive surgery , hence the post op recovery is fast and rehabilitation is quick. It also allows patients to sit cross legged and also allows squatting without any ill effects in longevity of the knee implants. It’s a blessing for Indian patients whose lifestyle demands sitting on floor and squatting. After surgery, patient was out of knee mobilisation and full weight bearing walking on second day. Patient achieved 120 degrees of flexion on day 2 and started stair climbing on day 3.
