Tamil Nadu farmers protesting for Kaveri water stopped the Andaman Express at Nagpur railway station for 40 minutes on Monday morning.
The 16032 Katra-Chennai Andaman Express arrived at platform number 2 of Nagpur station on Monday morning around 10:30 a.m. Sixty-five farmers already on board the train got off under the pretext of eating food, climbed onto the engine, and began protesting. The farmers halted the train for about 40 minutes, causing a stir at the station.
Due to the farmers’ agitation, some trains were diverted to other platforms. The farmers had originally departed for Delhi on July 27 by GT Express. Subsequently, all the farmers were disembarked by the police at Narmadapuram railway station. Additional general coaches were added to the Andaman Express, and the farmers were sent to Chennai.
Meanwhile, they staged a Rail Roko protest at Nagpur station. The RPF eventually pacified the situation, allowing all the farmers to reboard the train, which departed at 11:15 a.m.
