On the occasion of Global Tiger Day, WWF-INDIA successfully organized a comprehensive workshop for frontline staff of west pench on wildlife behavior and signs at surewani campus,Pench Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra. The workshop aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the forest guards in wildlife monitoring and conservation.
Mr. Ajinkya Bhatkar, Senior Project Officer and Honorary Wildlife Warden of Nagpur, led the workshop, providing detailed explanations on both direct and indirect signs of wildlife. He emphasized the importance of understanding these signs for effective patrolling and wildlife conservation. Additionally, Mr. Bhatkar shared essential facts about wildlife and highlighted the precautions that need to be taken during patrolling activities.
A hands-on camera trap installation exercise was conducted in the field, providing practical experience to the participants. The workshop saw active participation from 40 forest guards from various ranges and the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF).
Dr. Prabhunath Shukla, Deputy Director of Pench Tiger Reserve, provided valuable guidance on the reserve and management practices. He also gave various examples and shared his experience to motivate newly joined guards.
