The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in Vidarbha, Mumbai, Pune, Navi Mumbai and Konkan regions from August 1 to 3.
A Yellow Alert has been issued for Pune. Mumbai received 86 per cent of average monsoon rains in only two months. The rains increased the water levels in all the reservoirs but affected the normal life in Mumbai. While June went dry, additional rains were received during July, raising the possibility of the Zika virus infection in Pune. As many as 47 Zika patients were reported in Pune. Malaria and Dengue patients are increasing as mosquito density has increased.
In the Vidarbha region Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts faced the wrath of the rain god. Several villages in these districts were submerged and cut off from other areas.
