A hoarding collapsed in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Friday morning, crushing three vehicles at around 10:30 a.m. at the bustling Sahajanand Chowk in Dombivili. Despite the significant damage, injuring two, according to an official. The collapse occurred amid strong winds and continuous rain, which had caused the hoarding to sway precariously. A video capturing the incident shows the dramatic impact.
Kalyan Tehsildar Sachin Shejal confirmed that rescue teams have arrived at the scene and assured that there is no possibility of anyone being trapped under the collapsed billboard.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar in May, where a giant billboard collapse resulted in 17 fatalities and over 70 injuries. The Mumbai Crime Branch established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate that case, where the massive hoarding fell following a severe dust storm.
