Former Vidarbha women’s team captain Priyanka Acharya has been appointed as the new coach for the Vidarbha senior women and Under-23 teams for the current season. Acharya, who previously served as a coach for Rajasthan and Assam, has realized her long-held ambition to lead her home state’s teams.
Acharya takes over from Pritam Gandhe, who has concluded his two-year tenure. Notably, Acharya was the first woman cricketer from Vidarbha to coach another state team when she joined Rajasthan’s women’s squad and was also the first from the region to play professional cricket for Sikkim. Her extensive coaching experience with Rajasthan and Assam positions her well for her new role.
