Central Railway Nagpur Division Introduces QR Code Facility for Seamless Online Payment at All Reserved and Unreserved Ticket Counters from 31st July 2024
Central Railway is committed to providing a seamless travel experience to its passengers, and facilitating easy ticketing is one of its top priorities. As part of its continuous efforts to integrate digital technologies, the railway has received positive feedback for the mobile ticketing system for reserved tickets and the UTS on Mobile app for purchasing unreserved tickets. In line with this, Central Railway is now introducing a new initiative to provide online digital payment facilities through QR code devices at reserved and unreserved ticket counters.
Starting from July 31, 2024, passengers purchasing tickets from these counters can now use QR codes for quick and easy digital payments. This initiative aims to minimize wait times, eliminate the hassle of handling change, and promote cashless transactions. On the first day of the launch, tickets worth ₹39,490 were sold using QR code payments.
In line with Indian Railways’ commitment to enhancing passenger experience through technology, this initiative builds upon the success of mobile ticketing systems for reserved tickets and the UTS on Mobile app for unreserved tickets. The introduction of QR code devices at both reserved and unreserved counters marks a significant step towards comprehensive digital transformation in railway ticketing.
Benefits for Passengers:
• Faster ticket purchases
• Convenient digital payments
• Elimination of change-related issues
• Reduced queuing times
This move is part of strategy to promote digital payments and improve efficiency across the railway network. Central Railway encourages all passengers to embrace this new technology, making their journey smoother and more convenient from the very first step of ticket purchase.
