A 23-year-old software engineer Ved Bam from Nagpur, has created a new history. He has become the first Indian Pokemon Go player to qualify for the prestigious Pokemon World Championship. The tournament will be held from August 16 to 18, 2024 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
Ved Bam will be representing India at the international level by participating in the world’s most popular gaming event. The Pokemon World Championship has a total prize pool of two million dollars.
In April 2024, Ved participated in online qualifiers from India. Out of more than 500 contestants, he emerged as the winner after two qualifying rounds. He then went on to win every match without a loss while playing against 15 of India’s best players. As the first Indian to reach the distance from Nagpur to Honolulu, Ved has made a significant achievement in the Indian eSports industry.
