With the Maharashtra government set to disburse Rs. 1,500 under the Chief Minister’s Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme on August 17, Aadhaar centers in Nagpur are witnessing a surge in activity. Women are hurrying to link their bank accounts with Aadhaar to qualify for the payment.
While 1.35 crore women have been deemed eligible for the scheme, around 27 lakh beneficiaries still need to link their bank accounts. The government is urging swift action to ensure these women receive the first installment on time.
The scheme, aimed at women from families earning less than Rs. 2.5 lakh annually, is a significant initiative to provide financial support. However, the challenge of linking Aadhaar with bank accounts has created a bottleneck, potentially delaying the disbursement of funds to a large number of beneficiaries.
Authorities are working to expedite the process, but the sheer volume of pending accounts has created concerns about whether all eligible women will be able to receive the payment as scheduled. Beneficiaries are encouraged to complete the linking process immediately to avoid missing out on the financial aid.
