The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) withdrew their 11-day strike on Thursday, following a positive approach by the Supreme Court, assurance by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on the security of doctors, and directing police officers to take steps to ensure the safety of doctors on duty.
Doctors across the nation had withdrawn selective services following the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. The decision by MARD followed the withdrawal of the strike by the Federation of Associations of Resident Doctors.
Meanwhile, Nagpur Commissioner of Police along with senior police officers visited Government Medical College and Hospital and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College to discuss issues of safety of doctors.
