Most travellers were from Jalgaon
At least 14 people were killed as the bus in which they were travelling plunged into a river in Nepal on Friday. So far 14 bodies have been recovered from Marsyangdi River in Nepal’s Tahanun district. At least 16 people have been rescued. A team of armed police with ten divers are engaged in the search for 13 missing passengers of the ill-fated bus.
The bus from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh was heading towards Kathmandu from Pokhara. DSP Deepkumar Raya of Tanahun confirmed the accident and said that the bus was lying on the river bank.
Karki Police Chief SP Mohan Thapa confirmed the 14 dead bodies were recovered and 17 others were rescued. They are being treated at a hospital.
An Army helicopter with a medical team was sent to the accident site.

The bus bearing the number plate UP FT 7623 plunged into the river. The number plate indicates that the bus was registered in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed that most of the travellers were from Jalgaon in Maharashtra. Three buses of Gorakhpur’s Kesarwani Travells were booked to carry 110 travellers. The buses left on August 20 were scheduled to return on August 29.. The other two buses are stationed at Nepal’s Mungloing.
Fadnavis said most of the travellers were from Jalgaon.
