A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by the Tehsil police for allegedly stealing two-wheelers for joyrides, with her actions now linked to three separate vehicle thefts.
The suspect, Shabnam Niyaz Ansari, a resident of Mariam Nagar, Civil Lines, originally from Raj Nagar, Wathoda, reportedly developed a habit of riding stolen two-wheelers for pleasure. After a brief marriage and subsequent divorce, she began her spree of vehicle thefts.
On August 6, Shabnam stole an Activa scooter owned by Tapashu Bhaisare, an employee at Mayo Hospital, which was parked outside the Dean’s office. Following this incident, she went on to steal two additional Activa scooters from other locations.
The case was filed after Bhaisare lodged a complaint. Tehsil Police conducted an investigation, using CCTV footage and other evidence to confirm Shabnam’s involvement in the thefts.
