BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup. Notably, there are two Malayalee players in the team. Asha Shobhana and Sajana Sajeev are the Malayalis in the 15 squad. This is the first time that two Malayali players are included in the Indian cricket team for the World Cup at the same time. Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain. Smriti Mandana will also be the captain of the team. The tournament runs from October 3rd to 20th. The matches will be held in Dubai and Sharjah.

Led by senior player Harmanpreet Kaur, the team includes Smriti Mandana, Shefali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Jemima Rodriguez, Richa Ghosh, Yastika Bhatia, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh Thakur, Dayalan Hemalatha, Asha Shodhana, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil and Sajana Sajeev.
A total of 23 matches will be played in the tournament. The groups have been defined as previously announced. Apart from defending champions Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are in Group A. South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Scotland are in Group B. Each team in the group will compete against each other.
