The Home For Aged And Handicapped (HAH), Untkhana, Nagpur, marked National Sports Day with great enthusiasm, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and resilience among differently-abled children. The event was graced by the presence of International Cricketer Jitesh Mohan Sharma as the Chief Guest and Social Influencer Shashank Gatterwar as the Guest of Honour.
The program, anchored by Sunayana Orke, Special Teacher, and Pradeepkumar Yadav, Physical Teacher, featured the esteemed presence of dignitaries including Sister Alice (Manager of HAH), Sister Irene (Secretary of HAH, Sister Ida Fos, Superintendent of Snehasadan Divyang Mulanchi Shala, and Sister Lincy, Superintendent of Prenalaya sheltered Workshop.
The event commenced with a solemn tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, Jitesh Sharma garlanded his picture and all the dignitaries offered flowers in his honor. This was followed by a heartfelt welcome song performed by the Divyang children, setting a joyful tone for the day.
A highlight of the program was the unveiling of the logo for the upcoming Paralympic Exhibition, scheduled for 4 October, 2024, at HAH. All the guests participated in this momentous occasion, marking the beginning of preparations for the exhibition.
Additionally, the students presented a PowerPoint presentation detailing the significance of National Sports Day and the life of Major Dhyan Chand. The students eloquently explained the legacy of this legendary sportsman, inspiring everyone present.
In his inspiring speech, Jitesh Sharma expressed his admiration for the incredible work being done by the sisters and staff at the institution. “The real fighters are the sisters and staff who dedicate their lives to these children. I am truly blessed to be here and share my memories with you all,” said Jitesh Sharma, highlighting the dedication and commitment of the staff.
Shashank Gatterwar also shared his thoughts, emphasizing the importance of inclusion and support for differently-abled individuals in society.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sister Ida Fos, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to making the event a success. The day left everyone with a sense of fulfillment and inspiration, reinforcing the mission of the Home For Aged And Handicapped to empower and uplift differently-abled children through sports and education.
