All Ganesh mandals must submit an affidavit on a Rs 100 stamp paper, affirming that the Lord Ganesha idols they install will be made exclusively from clay, If any Mandal is found violating the rules, they will be blacklisted.
Ganeshotsav is going to start in a few days. Every possible effort is being made by the NMC to ensure that this festival remains environmental friendly in Nagpur. The Corporation is continuously creating awareness about POP idols through various programs. In this series, a workshop was organized on Monday, in which school students were given training to make clay Ganesh idols. Students from many schools of the city participated in this workshop. All the materials were made available to the children for making Ganesh idols.
Nagpur District Collector Dr. Vipin Itnkar and Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Anchal Goyal were also present at this event. The Commissioner said that the Students participated in this workshop with great enthusiasm and made clay Ganesh idols.
According to the Commissioner students participating in the workshop are brand ambassadors who will spread the message of the Municipal Corporation among the people. Professional artists were also present at this workshop who trained the children to make Ganesh idols.
