Mahavitaran has started the waiving electricity bill dues of 94,284 households, commercial and industrial electricity consumers of Nagpur district. Under the Mahavitaran Abhay Yojana, a total of Rs 61 crore 62 lakh will be waived on the outstanding electricity bill interest and delay amount of the customers. This Abhay Yojana has been started from September 1 after the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to give relief to consumers from action.
This scheme is for those domestic, commercial and industrial consumers who have faced permanent power interruption due to overdue bills of Mahavitaran in the state till March 31, 2024. Agricultural consumers are not included in this outstanding bill scheme. The period of the scheme is from September 1 to November 30, 2024.
Mahavitaran has to pay Rs 187 crore 52 lakh of the principal bill along with Rs 2 crore 37 lakh interest and Rs 59 crore 25 lakh late fee from these 94, 284 customers. However under this scheme, to provide relief to these electricity consumers, interest on the principal amount of the outstanding bill and penalty amount of Rs 61 crore 62 lakh will be waived.
Customers will get a discount on paying 30 percent of the principal bill and the remaining 70 percent in six installments. Domestic, commercial etc. low pressure consumers will be given a discount of ten percent on depositing the outstanding bill in one lump sum. High pressure industrial and commercial customers will get a discount of five percent.
Mahavitaran’s Nagpur Circle Chief Engineer Dilip Dodke has appealed that the customers of Nagpur Circle whose electricity has been permanently disconnected due to bill arrears should take advantage of this scheme.
