Nagpur Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against BJP MLA Nitesh Rane for allegedly delivering hate speeches and inciting communal tensions, following similar actions taken by the Ahmednagar police.
Earlier, two FIRs were lodged at Shrirampur and Topkhana police stations in Ahmednagar after protests from the Muslim community, who demanded action against Rane for his inflammatory remarks.
Rane had spoken at two public meetings in Shrirampur and Topkhana on Sunday, in support of Hindu seer Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj, who recently made derogatory comments about Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
In videos from these rallies that have since gone viral, Rane can be seen issuing threats to the Muslim community, warning of violence if they criticize the seer. “I am threatening you in the language you understand. If you say anything against our Ramgiri Maharaj, we will enter your mosque and beat you up one by one. Keep this in mind,” he declared.
This development has intensified the scrutiny on Rane, with legal actions now being pursued in multiple locations.
