As many as 419 artificial tanks for Ganesh idol immersion will be installed by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. The tanks will be available from September 7, the day when the Ganesh festival begins.
The arrangements are being made to prevent immersion in the natural water bodies within the NMC limits and prevent water pollution.
Big tanks are being installed at Kachchivisa Oswal Bhava, Gandhisagar, Sonegaon TLake. The arrangement for the immersion of idols by Ganesh Manadals is at Koradi.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari has appealed to the people to observe pollution-free festivals and use artificial tanks for immersion of idols.
Besides 419 artificial tanks, 331 cement tanks, 31 rubber tanks, 32 pits, and 22 mobile tanks will be made available. The tanks will be available in all the zones of NMC. NMC has also appointed employees to help the devotees in carrying out the immersion process. NMC employees will also maintain cleanliness in the premises.
