With the commencement of “Ganpati Utsav-2024” on September 7, the Nagpur Traffic Department has introduced major traffic diversions in the Chitar Oli area, a hub for the creation and sale of Ganesh idols. These changes, aimed at managing the high volume of vehicles and preventing congestion, have been implemented by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Shashikant Satav. The traffic regulations will be in effect from 6:00 am on September 7 to 7:00 am on September 8, 2024.
Chitar Oli, being a narrow road, faces heavy traffic between Bhandkas Chowk and Bhavsar Chowk, leading to frequent minor accidents and traffic jams. To ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid disruptions, the following measures have been taken:
- One-Way Traffic:
Traffic from Bhandkas Chowk towards Bhavsar Chowk via Chitar Oli will remain operational in one direction. However, the route from Bhavsar Chowk to Bhandkas Chowk via Chitar Oli will be closed for the designated period, turning it into a one-way road. - Diversions:
Vehicles heading from Bhavsar Chowk towards Bhandkas Chowk via Chitar Oli will be diverted through Bhavsar Chowk to Gandhi Statue Square and then towards Bhandkas Chowk. - Closures:
The road between Bhandkas Chowk and Shahid Chowk, as well as the route from Shahid Chowk to Bhandkas Chowk, will be closed at Gandhi Statue Square. Traffic coming from Bhandkas Chowk will be diverted via Chitnis Park towards Agrasen Chowk, while vehicles approaching from Shahid Chowk will be directed towards Darodkar Chowk. - Additional Control:
Traffic officials have been authorized to impose further diversions as required, depending on the traffic situation.
These traffic measures are intended to prevent congestion and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles during the festive period. Citizens are requested to adhere to the new traffic regulations to avoid inconvenience.
