After seven years of construction, the Kamptee Road double-decker flyover in Nagpur is expected to open by the end of September, pending no further delays caused by heavy rainfall. Maha Metro recently acquired the necessary land at LIC Square, accelerating progress on the flyover’s ramp. The project had been delayed for more than 2.5 years due to land acquisition challenges.
With asphalting and service road work still pending, Metro officials estimate an additional three weeks of construction. The acquired land, measuring 2,383.36 square metres, cost the District Collectorate Rs 39.35 crore in compensation and establishment charges.
The project required the partial demolition of several old structures, and its originally planned landing site was revised to accommodate local community demands, led by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
